Leaving that apartment this morning was, without a doubt, one of the five hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life.

I know Zeke’s right. I know before I know it, I’ll be with him again and I’m totally being melodramatic.

I know it, but I don’t want to wait. I don’t want to wait another second.

Glancing down at the star-shaped diamond now residing on my left ring finger, I can’t stop the soft smile that spreads across my lips as I dance in my seat.

Zeke and I are married. Like, for real married!

I’d be lying if I said I’d seen this coming. I mean, sure, there’s a huge part of recent me that devoted every waking thought to marrying Zeke and having a thousand of his babies. However, the kind of amazing relationship we have now?

It isn’t one I ever could have imagined when I was seven.

To be fair, I wasn’t thinking about it much back then. That came later, but looking back at all those days I spent on the roof alone, staring at stars and dreaming of my future?

Zeke wasn’t ever just a part of my future, every piece of it has always been his.

I didn’t see it for what it was back then, but sitting in my car, staring back at the apartment building that I equally love and loathe, I see it now.

Zeke told me he’d been waiting his whole life to marry me. As I look down at the diamond star now residing on my left hand once more, I realize I’ve been waiting just as long for him.

How did we miss it for so many years?

“Just a little longer,” I whisper to myself, letting the memory of his blue eyes, his full lips on mine fill my veins.

Reaching for my keys, I try to slide them into the ignition but feel resistance. Bending, I see a piece of paper taped there, making my eyebrows crinkle in confusion. Pulling it from its spot, I feel the wide grin cross my lips as I see his handwriting.

Check your glove box

Reaching across, I hit the button and can’t contain the squeal that leaves my lips when I see the large bag of Twizzlers hiding safely inside. Pulling them out, I lift the paper taped to the package.

You have a sweet ass. Get it? Cause they’re sweet. Like that ass. XO

Laughing loudly, I scroll to his name and hit message, grinning like an idiot.

You have a sweet ass, too. Best surprise ever! Love you xo Addie!

Pushing my key into the ignition, I slowly leave our parking lot, letting out a low sigh. A moment later, my phone dings and as I pull up to the stop sign, I check my texts, beaming again.

I love you more. PS don’t let Josh see. Totally ganked that shit from his room last night while you were in the shower.-Z

Aww, look at you stealing crap for me lol Addie!

Hitting send on my reply, I set my phone in my lap, pulling a Twizzler from the package and munching on it gleefully.
